Sudbury Community Hub is a friendly, fun and welcoming place to be. Our support workers are very successful in delivering effective person-centred support which is tailored to suit each individual that attends. Our fully trained team members are always available to support with any needs including assisting with personal care

We have an amazing customer group who are very supportive of each other. There are many long-term friendships, with new ones developing all of the time. Customers are encouraged to maintain and learn new skills and be as independent as possible.

Facilities:

Within the Hub

  • a spacious main hall,
  • an Internet café including virtual reality
  • an accessible, fully equipped, American-Diner themed kitchen, including American car seating and booths!
  • a sensory room with waterbed sensory lighting, bubble tubes, a ceiling projector fibre optics, and a wide range of sensory equipment with lots of comfy seating. There is also a Omivista projector a system that can create images on any surface and responds to movement providing lots of fun with a wide range of activities such as bursting bubbles or squashing strawberries!
  • and a fully equipped wheelchair accessible bathroom with showering trolley.

Within the grounds

  • a Summerhouse,
  • a range of conservation areas full of wild plants and flowers, green spaces for outdoor activities and games
  • a sensory garden with windchimes, fragrant of wildflowers and herbs, and outdoor sensory panels designed and made by our customers!

Activities:

At Sudbury Hub we offer many different activities, including but not limited to:This is a sample timetable of daytime offer activities. The timetable includes, Monday - healthy cooking, Tuesday - Sports and exercise, Wednesday - Baking, Thursday - Arts and Crafts, Friday - Gardening. This is a sample timetable so is not representative of an exact week, but an example of what a week may look like. Alternative activities are always on offer as well.

Digital Offer:

We offer a digital skills session where customers are taught how to use a variety of digital technologies such as photography, film, audio and editing. We have a green screen where customers can walk the red carpet, become a news reporter or even fly! There is a top of the range Virtual reality system where you can interact with a 3 dimensional visual or other sensory environment such as walking under the sea.

Our internet café is available to all of our customers where they can be supported to learn computer skills or use the computers independently. Computer use is tailored to the customers choices and needs. We also do a regular zoom quiz!

Hire our Hub!

Sudbury hub has a range of different rooms and hall available to hire throughout the week (availability depending), evenings and weekends. The following rooms are available to hire:

  • Conference room: An ideal room for smaller meetings or 1-1 sessions such as advice services and counselling with tea and coffee making facilities.
  • Training room/Internet café: This room has a large TV, 5 desktop computers, a comfortable seating area and Tea and Coffee making facilities. Would be ideal for training sessions or larger meetings. Furniture can be arranged according to requirements.
  • Hall: The hall is suitable for private functions, sports groups, children’s parties, or large meetings. Table and chairs are available, or hall can be cleared according to hirers requirements.
  • Our amazing Sensory room is available for private hire either individually or for small groups.
