Haverhill Community Unit is a friendly, lively and welcoming environment for people with Learning Disabilities, autistic people and those with complex needs.

Our experienced and caring team work together have care experience of over 100 years! We work holistically to provide person centred support to meet all the needs of our customers and welcome people of all ages to experience a variety of stimulating daytime learning and enjoyable social opportunities in a happy, homely and safe environment.

We have a wide range of Customers who we support with different abilities. Our customers age varies from our youngest customer being 26 years old and our eldest being 72 years old! We also run a Night Hub youth group sponsored by Activities Unlimited for 13-25 year-olds. We have an average core group of 8 Customers who attend this.

Facilities:

Within the Unit

  • There are customer laptops, tablets, a retro Playstation one, a X Box One series S, a new smart television in the workshop and another flat screen television in the dining area available to use.
  • Workshop area filled to the brim with art and craft supplies!
  • A kitchen area with a pantry, an industrial size electric cooker and hob, large microwave, 1 large grill, kettle, 1 larder fridge, 1 under the counter size fridge, 1 larder freezer, a rise and fall work surface, 1 handwash sink, 4 stainless steel food preparation sinks.
  • A dining room consisting of several tables and chairs, 15 lockers, large double storage cupboard, stereo system, tv and tv unit.
  • Two toilets.
  • A fully equipped laundry room with a washing machine and tumble dryer.
  • Lift
  • Activity/ Games room upstairs

  • Customers have use of nearby allotment

This is a sample timetable of daytime offer activities. The timetable includes, Monday - healthy cooking, Tuesday - Sports and exercise, Wednesday - Baking, Thursday - Arts and Crafts, Friday - Gardening. This is a sample timetable so is not representative of an exact week, but an example of what a week may look like. Alternative activities are always on offer as well.
