A wide range of celebrations and activities took place in the last week of January and first week of February for Dignity Action Day – an annual opportunity for health and social care workers, and members of the public to uphold people’s rights to dignity and provide a truly memorable day for people who use care services.
Here are some of the activities that took place:
Sudbury Community Hub had a retro day and self portraits were displayed in a gallery
Lowestoft Community Hub had a big breakfast (which looked delicious!) for the customers
Rushmere Community Hub did an art project: “With many hands, dignity grows”. Each customer and staff member produced a hand to display on the branch as a symbol of offering their support for everyone’s dignity.
Felixstowe Community Hub had a Gatsby style 1920s day with dancing and afternoon tea
JP at Sutherland Drive is held a tea party at his home for his Mum and Auntie
John Turner House in Lowestoft painted #suffolkrocks
The theme in Bury St Edmunds was ‘Dignity begins at birth.’ Staff and customers donated gifts to make up hampers which were presented to midwife Jess Jeewa for the maternity ward at West Suffolk Hospital. They will now be raffled to go toward new mood lighting and a Tens machine for the birthing unit. A 4th hamper is being raffled at Cathedral View, our short break accommodation and monies raised will also be given to the fund.
